I walked past SF Community College on the way back from work each day when I lived in the city, and couldn’t help but notice that they were offering classes for free. I couldn’t really resist the idea of free things, and decided to try out a few computer science courses for curiousity’s sake.
It was difficult for me to understand the logic behind writing code, and I often made easy mistakes like missing commas that took me too long to find. After not taking any tests for years, I got a failing grade on my first test. I stuck with it though, and did extra practice with my engineering coworker to understand concepts that I didn’t understand.
In the end, I was able to ace my next test, and even started to deploy code at work. And now I have a much better understanding of what it’s like from an engineer’s point of view (pretty cool)! Feel free to check out my python code on Github.
