This year, I made a Kickstarter dedicated to fish that I was obsessed. I'm actually obsessed with a whole bunch of different animals, and couldn't stop drawing the horses in Iceland for about 2 years (they have a particular round and stocky structure was appealing), but that's another story.

Have you seen a sunfish IRL? First time I saw one was at Monterey Bay Aquarium, and they are amazingly massive, like something out of a Roald Dahl book description. There's also all different kinds of sunfish that look all blobbo and different.

One thing that was important for me to do was to donate a portion of each pledge to Gill Tract Farms and Sogorea Te' Land Trust. I've been volunteering on their community farm, and it was a really nice break from all the recent stress that everyone was probably experiencing. It was nice to give back a tiny bit.

It actually took me several times of redrawing the fish and recoloring it to get it right. I also think the janky drawings I made in the beginning are pretty funny. I start by sketching the fish on paper with an ink pen, I don't mind if I mess up because I can always start over. I made these into enamel pins—final stuff below.
